Took a nice drive up the California coast to do a little sketching at Fort Ross.
Russian merchants built an agricultural settlement here in the early 1810s. Big guns protected the fort and its bay from Spanish and American intrusion.
The fort today is a National Historic Landmark, plus a California State Park. Inside its haunted museum, it’s quiet and creepy, almost ghost-like.
The journeys up and back were equally amazing.
